Traitors-Elections- &
Pro-LTTE Anti-National Forces-
Response to "a Sri Lankan in Australia "
By Darmitha-Kotte
The comments made by " A Sri Lankan in Australia" is well
taken. The fact that Gen.Janaka Perera applied while still holding the
post of Sri Lankan HC is to be expected because those who (like him,
there have been many others who while serving as Ambassador/High Commissioner
apply for permanent residency in the country of his posting) make use
of the privilege of being a diplomat to make the application. While
serving Sri Lanka as HC, he came into contact with all Australian government
officials who could have been useful to him in achieving permanent residency.
Why did he promote Don Randall at the elections? Isn't it quite obvious
that Gen.Janaka Perera had a personal hidden agenda- "you pat my
back & I pat yours"
Even though he applied while still holding office, he actually utilized
the easy path to permanent residency only after he completed his assignment
because then it would not appear as if he abused his privileges as a
Sri Lankan representative.
The comments made by " A Sri Lankan in Australia" only goes
to show the mentality of Gen. Janaka Perera as a person who manipulates
situations for his personal benefit. By doing this he as High Commissioner
also let down our country Sri Lanka in the eyes of Australian officials-didn't
he?
At no time did the writer of this article state that Gen.Janaka Perera
was not an efficient officer & we are quite sure he did some useful
things for Sri Lanka while holding the position of HC all the while
having a hidden agenda of "serving himself " more than serving
his Motherland! That is the mentality of those who wish to use their
postings overseas to get personal benefits.
This is the same reasons for which he now comes forward at local elections-
for a personal agenda rather than to serve the constituency and the
country at large.

A Sri Lankan in Australia
With regard to the above article, I wish to correct one error the
author made. Janaka Perera did not wait till he retired to apply for
Australian migration.
There is sufficient evidence to believe that he actually did it whilst
he was the High Commissioner, through Don Randall MP for Canning. We
know Don Randall well and when he mentioned this in at one of our meetings,
we were shocked because Janaka was still our HC.
I thought he did that for his children to get virtually free university
study. To Janka's credit I must say that whilst he derived some personal
benefit, he also did a great job for Sri Lanka whilst he was the HC
for Australia. He set up the Sri Lanka friendship group comprised of
Australian parliamentarians.
Don Randall headed this group he has repeatedly refuted the pro-LTTE
labor MP - John Murphy's condemnation of Sri Lanka in the Australian
parliament. Janaka also became close to the then foreign minister Alexander
Downer, who steadfastly kept LTTE lobby away from the government departments.
Janaka encouraged and got us to work for Don Randall at the Australian
Federal elections.
Janaka was also extremely useful to us to channel some of the tsuami
funds to non-LTTE controlled areas. If you are interested, it will not
be difficult for you to verify the facts about Janka's migration application.
