CAN THE BRITISH TURN A BLIND EYE ON FEBRUARY 4th?

By HAROON TILLY

January 31, 2008

The LTTE which is renowned for defying the law in England and engage actively in terrorist activities in multiple of refractive methods are yet again ready to hoodwink the British, according to the latest reports coming out from London.

Will the British over and over again turn a blind eye and fall prey to these terrorists who are very much dynamic in London on 4th February, Sri Lanka's 60th independent anniversary, when this banned terrorist organization in the UK is planning to hold an anti-Sri Lanka demonstration right in front of No.10, Downing Street, the official residence of the British Prime Minister?.

Sri Lankan expatriates, as usual, have been vigilant in monitoring activities of this terrorist group in the UK and have come to know about a scheduled protest under a pseudo name, The Tamil Youth Organisation (TYO) in this instance.

Sources close to the TYO have revealed that A.C. Shanthan, the leader of the UK LTTE and his buddy Golden Lambert, who were both arrested under Britain's anti-terrorist laws for their LTTE activities, currently facing legal prosecution and on bail at present are behind the 4 February demonstration plans in front of 10, Downing Street,
.
A leaflet distributed by the TYO announces the demonstration would be held between 11.00 a.m. to 3 p.m. right in front of The British Prime Minister's official residence.

This is not the first time the TYO is getting up to such pranks and attempt to hold LTTE rallies in London. In July 2006, the same organization held a LTTE rally in Hyde Park London blatantly demonstrating with a cut- out of Velupillai Prabhakaran, the Tamil Tiger terrorist Leader.

A.C.Shanthan (53) is currently directing the British Tamil Forum (BTF) as successor to the British Association of Tamils (BAT) and all Fronts of the LTTE. Golden Lambert (31) is the chief fundraiser of the TYO, according to London sources.
.
The duo was arrested in connection with the Black July rally which they organized and held in London's Hyde Park on July 25, 2006, which had been under investigation for some time. Subsequently, both were arrested under section 12 (3) and Section 2 and 6 of UK's anti-terrorist law which respectively bans support for a proscribed organization by way of speeches and/or providing material support by way of fund raising.

Shanthan, who had been an armed combatant one time under the LTTE Jaffna commander Kittu, has later gone to London as a student and continued his supportive terrorist activities towards the LTTE. He has been operating the Eelam House, the London Headquarters of the LTTE, in Catherine Road, East Ham London until the organization was banned in Britain.

Sri Lankan expatriates in London have already briefed the vital network of British Security about the pending terrorist activity by way of e-mails to The Commissioner of Metropolitan Police, Mayor of London, Members of the British Parliament - (House of Commons), The Lords of House of Lords and with a copy to the UN spokesman (sainte@un.org).

It is going to be the acid test in this instance for the British to react to such a request made by Sri Lankans in the UK well in advance. Will the Colonial masters, who are committed to eliminate terrorism from the world act swiftly and ban such an illegal act from the British soil on the 60th Independent anniversary of Sri Lanka?

The British will be more than obliged to demonstrate and prove to the world on this occasion as to what extent they are prepared to stretch a helping hand towards combating the terrorist menace in Sri Lanka which has become cancerous over a period of three decades. The ball is now in British Court!
