Are Deceptive As The Nation Awaits A Viable Return To Normalcy And An Unhealthy
Calm Prevails. The temple bells ring out as usual, the incessant surf booms on the rocks off the coastline and the fragrance of Frangipani and Lotus Blossoms bathes this fair land of ours as people in their desperate hope for a return to normalcy cling to their own definitions of sanity yet do so with a great deal of trepidation as the Wickremasinghe Administration begins to show alarmingly visible cracks in its infrastructure as sadly, the benefits of change which are expected by all of the Nation's population as a result of the projected Peace Process are afforded to a mere favoured few and bereft of the vast majority. The Cost Of Living Index has reached Astronomical Proportions, lawlessness is rife within the Land and the Proscribed 'tigers' are still on the loose! The age old sin of bending to the dictates of immoral demands based on one's own opportunism reeks within the UNF Camp and having a compelling influence on the mind of the leadership, what with the Thondamans and their bi-partisan disruptions of Government operations involving the vital utility of Hydro Electric Power To The Nation based on an assinine myth in the interests of plantation workers?, The Rauf Hakeem Syndrome of 'Hakeem's Prognosis for the Muslim Community Needs' which is far removed from reality and taking on similar intonations that the LTTE have fashioned out for the Tamil Community in their self imposed misrepresentations of service to their respective communities to which the Prime Minister seems more than partial, in his clawing desperation for survival while the development and progress of the Nation has ground to a standstill. To add insult to injury, the LTTE are celebrating the loss of their heroes and splashing the numbers and names of their "matyrs' globally in the latest affront to the ban imposed on their activities while the authorities look on unconcerned and courtesy of the British Broadcasting Corporation providing continuing publicity to all LTTE activities globally, they maintain rather incredibly their momentum knowing fully well that as long as Ranil Wickremasinghe is on their side their continued existence is assured or is it? Is there an ominous hand of destiny that is already surfacing in preparedness to counter and negate their forging ahead to carve out secession from outside the UNF perimeter!? Resignations from high ranking Military Leaders have caused concerns within the Nation already insecure about the future as the instability of such actions only contribute to the growing concerns about National Security and whether it is an indication of the weakening of the guard and a crawlspace for the LTTE monitoring every security move in search of chinks in the Government's armour and nevertheless an indication of worse to follow should the signs be interpreted as a general trend. The Wickremasinghe Administration has dallied long enough with the issue of restoring the Nation to an acceptable level of peace and harmony and have failed to appease the needs and minds of All Citizens with the exception of a few pockets of contented individuals and ere long face the danger of losing control of the reins of power which they aspire so desperately to cling to as it can be swiftly rescinded by Presidential Decree, hence the compromises with the LTTE and the renegade Muslims disassociated from their mainstream community which thus far have shown little thought or consideration to the Sinhala Nation. In trying to appease the wrong entities before the needs of the Sinhala Nation, the lingering concerns that at some stage in the near futur, things could go tragically wrong for the Administration does not appear to be a priority needing resolution and in pursuing the present path of unconcerned compromise with renegades who realistically need to be muffled and hogtied shows indiffernce as it is a needless waste of time which is of the essence as it prolongs the return to normalcy envisioned and craved for by the long suffering impoverished of the Nation whose concerns certainly need to be addressed before signing their inherant right away into the predatorial jaws of those seeking to destroy our beloved Motherland. An unhealthy calm prevails within the Nation although it is fervently hoped not in the wake of an ensuing storm as the restoration of normalcy seems to be a long time coming as the clouds of dissent loom over the horizon.
