An Overwhelming Display Of Presidential Confidence Lends Credence Towards His Capabilities!

Interestingly enough the Tamil Tigers are reportely in limbo and confusion about the President's cool and pragmatic approach towards how he communicates with them.There has been a nonchalant attitude of the President who has thus far been unfazed nor rattled over any attemppt by the LTTE to distract him and his mission dedicated to delivering Sri Lanka into a premise of hope and posterity. Just prior to the Independence Day Presidential address there has been talk of the LTTE suggesting 'reconsidering' their responses to the resumption of the peace talks if the Government collaborated with forces against them obviously refering to their rivals the Karuna factor led by Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, whose image and identity they have thus far attempted with no success to tarnish and destroy even suggesting Presidential collussion with them. Despite such accusations, admirably the President's stance has recently been greatly emphasized by his resilience to any suggestions of Sri Lanka collaborating with paramilitaries vehemently distancing his Government from the accusations but perhaps keeping a wary eye open in the direction of the beneficial aspects of it all.

It has to be acknowledged even reluctantly that one of the most important fallouts significantly important to Sri Lanka and much to the chagrin of the LTTE rests on the side effects of the Karuna rebellion on the LTTE and a huge loss of face which consequently bears no real significance of being either military or political, since the Sri Lankan government very prudently opted not to use the enormous advantage of being supportive of the Karuna Faction even unofficially towards overwhelming the Wanni Tigers led by Velupillai Prabhakaran whose motivations have only been megalomaniacal and whose strength lies in the logistics and tactics of anyone but himself being the manipulatable robot he has proved to be depending heavily on the likes of Anton Balasingham and Thamilselvan to do his thinking and who in turn have well and truly shown their ineptitude which will eventually lead to their own demise alongside the terror group they so desperately continue to promote despite changing international opinion towards their cause.

In the simplest of terms the once feared terror tactics of the LTTE have digressed to being expectedly dismantleable in more ways than one where the most important reality towards its manifestation seems the psychological impact the Karuna Faction has had thus far on the LTTE. It has as always been perceived by the experts that Vellupillai Pirapaharan was not the invincible individual he often poses to be beyond the cowardice of hiding in the jungles of the Wanni and that resistance to the LTTE in its most effective form as demonstrated by the Karuna Faction is something that can indeed upend the Tiger organization, turn them belly up literally and eventually overrun them! Psychologically at first and decisively physically in the end if the correct approach and tactics were utilised!

Despite their bold rhetoric which never fails to emanate from their spokespersons the LTTE has to come to terms with the reality that they no longer have a claim towards being the overall representation of the Tamil Community in Sri Lanka and that there have always been groups of other dissenters even within their own rank and file some of whom paid a heavy price for their objections to the modus operandi of the LTTE but created a precedent for those such as the Karuna Breakaway Group which followed. The Karuna faction which initially rebelled against the Prabhakaran Tigers while crossing mainstream LTTE lines are today indeed a contending factor whose rebellion, has greatly disillussion LTTE aspirations regardless of whether or not they have Governmental support as they have instigated a realistic Tamil resistance to the Tigers, and a once seemingly hopeless anti-Tiger cause from within gaining renewed aspirations toward true liberation from their real oppressors the LTTE.

This appears to be a cognizance the Administration of Mahinda Rajapaksa take smug satisfaction in as the greater resistances to the LTTE there are from within their own community there is every possibility that it would promote the credence of all aspirants towards a realistically peaceful Sri Lanka while also promoting the concept that his Administration in one which will not be intimidated by terrorists and that despite his willingness to talk with the terrorists he will do so on on his own terms rather than those laid down by the LTTE terrorists.

Most unfortunately for the LTTE of Prabhakaran this is a time of realization that their credibilities if any ever existed in the first place are on the line and probable cause for their desperate push to de-stabilise the Karuna faction which now poses a real threat towards their ursurpance if granted legitimacy and perhaps a danger they are reluctant to flirt with unless success towards their elimination at the hands of the LTTE is assured as forcing the hand of the Government towards the manifestation of such a scenario could prove fatal towards even their puny existence of current repute! Of child soldiers and displaced weaponry of exaggerated effectivity!

Despite the inevitable eventualities which would be meritworthy from a Government standpoint of honing to knife edged precision the advantages of the Karuna faction as the ultimate LTTE deterrent and elimination tool the manouverings of the Government may be significantly important in a broader sense of interpretation about how carefully they are conducted and the standby value of the Karuna faction becomes priceless by virtue of its implicitly imposing effectiveness without too much fanfare and ticker tape! The boot of subterfuge being on the other foot perhaps! as some analysts have cared to describe it.

This is also the probable cause for justification of the firepower Sri Lanka has displayed on Independence Day notwithstanding the Government's committmrent to peace where the President has presented a very astute and determined stance that this time around, intimidation by the LTTE will get them nowhere where there are more than one area of substantial support towards maintaining the Sovereignity and Territorial Integrity of Sri Lanka from powerful allies and that perhaps their best bet towards their own restitution far removed from their ambits towards secession would be to relent their terrorist identity, denounce separatist aspirations and join mainstream Sri Lankan Society or perish both metaphorically and literally in the process of acting to the contrary!
