Cause enough for Sri Lanka's Status Quo To DiscontinueNorway's Further Participation In The Peace Process!

At a time when the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam seem to have the least amount of credibility as any asset towards a lasting peace in Sri Lanka, their greatest champion Norway too seems to be losing credibility as a legitimate peace moderator. There are many global analysts who believe, not without statistics, that Norway carries duplicity in its role as facilitator with a hidden agenda leaning in favour of the LTTE as well as opportunistic tendencies towards financial gain which some of Norways peace activist leaders appear to have built a reputation for, given their track record. The phrase "experimenting with conflict resolution and Peace activities to gain international recognition for an insignificant country, and with secret funds for such programs " as brought forward by many patriotic Sri Lankan groups is an accusation which has been leveled at them which projects Norway's image as a very circumspect one and has been presented in similar vein on many an occasion through their bipartisan leanings towards the LTTE, at times very daringly and surely needs to be taken to task.

In a world plagued with terrorism the presence of a fully armed terror group in Sri Lanka which continues to exist with impunity and given many exhortations towards a justification to continue in this manner by Norway is fast becoming very questionable whether Norway has any further right to participate in Sri Lanka's peace effor as a result of the pro-LTTE parleying which it seems to relish.

That there is a ceasefire on where theTamil Tigers were compelled to declare an unconditional peace with obligations to maintain it thus is indicative of the assertions of the International Super Powers who were taking affirmative action to control the terrorist menace globally with direct bearing on the LTTE within Sri Lanka as a banned and proscribed terror group who despite the bravado in their latest dialogue about re-commencing attrocities affiliated to internal armed insurrection mistakenly dubbed a war have limited claims toward any legitimacy for conflict.

Norway thereby playing any supportive role towards any legitimization of LTTE activity is making a serious error and the demands from Coalition Partner of the UPFA Government, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna that Norways role in Sri Lankan Affairs is objectionable to the Nation probably has a correct bearing towards the mood of the Nation. In the simplest of terms for its role in being LTTE supportive with great bias it is cause enough for Norway to be removed from further participation in Sri Lanka's Peace Process where India may be invited as a better option and a Regional Super Power with a right to mediate towards bettering the environment in becoming terrorist free and hence trouble free.

The LTTE and their Norwegian champions seem to forget the basic principle involved in the objectives and requisites of the Peace as applicable to Sri Lanka where a self appointed representation of a minority ethnic group have tried to overcome the majority community of a Sovereign Nation through internal armed insurrection without success albeit the havoc and destruction which prevailed for 3 decades.

Having been invited to participate in the Peace which was required at a time when negotiation was required in a rational manner towards any viable resources available for the peace without compromising the Nation's Sovereignity and Territorial Integrity, Norway has not carried out equitably and unbiased the obligation required of a mediator through its bi-partisan support for and constant covering up of many LTTE attrocities which continue despite the ceasefire.

In having been openly biased all along in favour of the LTTE as statistics prove, neither of the two entities have however outsmarted the Sri Lankan Nation whose perceptions of Norway as 'the facilitator' was exposed for its bias towards the separatist agenda in Sri Lanka almost from the very outset of their participation.

Some Sri Lankan leaders who were involved in the ongoing Peace negotiations perhaps weak in their integrities in a frame of mind keen to achieve their short-term political goals have now fallen by the wayside as the all discerning within the Nation have voted them out of office based entirely on the collusion between the previous administration and the LTTE towards a hidden agendatowards mutual benefit. The evils of the Interim Serlf Governing Authority which is a gross sellout of the Nation to its enemies seems to represent the very same collusion and one which Norway seems to be in favour of promoting on behalf of the LTTE based on which criterion Norway seems to have disentitled itself from further participation in Sri Lanka's peace process.

The World Alliance For Peace In Sri Lanka through spokesperson president Gamini Gunatileke of the Weera Parakramabahu Foundation has been aptly quoted as saying"Norway's duplicity was soon visible with the wafer-thin 'peace process’ militarily strengthening the LTTE instead of moving it towards disarmament and making it accountable and responsible for the conditions of the ceasefire agreement. The LTTE has from the outset violated with impunity the conditions of the ceasefire agreement. The Tamil Tiger Terrorists have killed political Opponents and army intelligence officers, smuggled weapons, gunned down civilians in the government controlled areas, forcibly conscripted child soldiers, rigged elections and continued to train their Black Tiger suicide bombers. In defiance of the accepted norms the Norwegian facilitator went to great lengths to accept and air the LTTE versions and exert undue pressure through public statements etc on the elected government of the majority Sri Lankans to give into the demands of the Tigers"end quote.

A very definitive "cause enough " for Sri Lanka's Status Quo to seriously think about discontinuing Norway's further participation in Sri Lanka's Peace Process!
