The Sinhala Nation Must Stand Defiantly United Against Its Own Renegades In Order To Ensure Self- PreservationThe point has to be driven home in no uncertain terms that rhetoric alone will not resolve Sri Lanka's multifaceted problems albeit a prevailing calm after the veritable storm left behind by the internal armed insurrections of the LTTE who appear to be placated, restrained and confined to barracks by a combination a of a few factors of which the International Stand On Global Terrorism headed by the USA is obviously the chief deterrent followed closely by the memorandum of understanding between the UNF and the LTTE which the latter seem to have assumed, is their ticket to freedom and exoneration from their heinous crimes against a Sovereign Nation and all in all a probable atmosphere of futility within the LTTE Camp that they are headed nowhere through persisting aggression and have decided to re-vamp their modus operandi though a few chinks in their armour, has surfaced lately namely their forked tongued dialogue which neither conveys sincerity towards a lasting peace through denouncing their past notoriety and a laying down of arms nor a relenting of their ambits towards eelam. The fact that the Wickremasinghe Administration is palavering to their agitations while falsely believeing that this would be the end to attrocities by the LTTE appears to be a misguided gamble as it has in fact eclipsed the real needs of the Sinhala Nation which lie in the singlemost focal point of their democratic freedom and the need to get on unimpeded with their lives so badly shattered!as it is far fetched to believe that there can be any expectations of a lasting peace within the Nation as long as there remains a dangerous and destructive element such as the LTTE lurking in the shadows ever ready to pounce on the indiscretions of the Administration. As an example of the axiom that terrorist groups need to be wiped out in its entirety, the Phillippine Government led by the charismatic and fearless Madam Gloria Macapaga Arroyo stands out as a Nation plagued by the Abu Sayak Terrorist Group yet determined to wipe them out in its entirety with the help of the US Government and all other resources available to them and Sri Lanka probably needs to take a closer look at her strategies as an exmple rather than indulge in the meaningless negotiations and offers of concessions and conciliations which will undoubtedly create a precedent giving credibility to all other aspiring terror groups as well as those in circulation. Another example the Israeli Government too, through its relentless pursuit of terror groups causing so much destruction within Israel have shown the proper approach towards countering through eventual elimination the menace of terrorism where all negotiations have been shelved until the terrorist entity has been wiped out as it too believes that the tolerance of terrorism and conciliations towards then would be precedent creating as a majority of the Nation believes that terrorist must be eliminated to ensure their well being for the future. To promote this concept the catalysts available to Sri Lanka are numerous and there should be no qualms about its justification as regardless of the call for moderation by the US Government as a show of policy towards peace in the region with their hands already full with the Indo-Pakistani problem in Kashmir, if they are willing to assist the Phillippines to oust and eliminate their terrorists why should there be a double standard in the case of Sri Lanka?. The Indian interests in apprehending and extraditing the leadership and other immediate cohorts of the LTTE which have been expressed in no uncertain terms should be another pointer towards the more appropriate direction which needs to be taken by the Sri Lankan Administration rather than carrying on a preposterous wooing campaign which shows more fear and apprehension of the LTTE rather than a recognition that they the LTTE are the sole representatives of the Tamil Community which in fact they are not!. Mediation through conciliation should probably be renamed mediation through submission as what the Government is presently doing is beyond the comprehension of most analytical minds as it defies many norms of logic in addition to the creation of great uncertainty amongst the Sinhala Nation as far as their security is concerned. The Pundits of mediation within the rank and file of the Government seem to have ad libbed their way into the hearts and minds of the more gullible and are careening towards the unknown in as far as deproscribing and lifting bans on the LTTE rather than tightening the screws on them based on the simple rationale that they have no right to exist. Contrary to the apparent illusion that normalcy is returning to the Nation, one has to look beyond wishful thinking as the hard cold facts being presented in this entire scenario between the Government and the LTTE suggest a compromise between the two entities fashioned at their own survival rather than that of the Nation and the gullibilities mentioned previously seem to have netted in those of the Presidency as well as the High Buddhist Clergy who once vehemently opposed the M o U and the Peace Process which they recognized as being flawed and detrimental to the future of the Nation but are now waving an olive branch in hesitant support. Where unity is paramount to the survival of a Nation there seems to
be an indigenous trait amongst some of us ever ready to desert a sinking
ship and this is a time when the Sinhala Nation should stand resolutely
together to defy what may be their last stand towards restoring their
rights or face the ignominy of being subjugated by a minority. The Sinhala
Nation must stand defiantly united against its own renegades to ensure
self preservation
