The Tamil National Front Has Presented An Opportunity To The Administration Towards Recognizing Who Really Merits Tamil Representation !
It must provide great credence towards their image as well as a source of comfort to the Nation of Sri Lanka embroiled for so long in ethnic diversities and conflict that the recent press communiqué released by the Tamil National Front (not to be confused with the TNA - Tamil National Alliance TNA which is a parliamentary proxy of the LTTE) evaluated by many discerning analysts as being easily the most formidable Tamil Force ranged against the LTTE in the North and East of Sri Lanka and has implicitly exposed the hidden agendas of the mainstream LTTE also appearing to be now devoid of their onetime leader Velupillai Pirapaharan(Prabhakaran) who has been unheard of or seen in any veracity since the Tsunami of December 26th 2004.
The TNF has exhorted all Tamil forces to join in a common front to liberate the Tamil people from the grip of the mainstream LTTE and erase them from their very existence mooting the confidence of many Sri Lankans regardless of their ethnicities making many believe that here at last are the true champions of the Tamil Community within Sri Lanka. Needless to say they cannot be permitted to run amok rather than being utilised prudently towards dealing with the menace of the mainstream LTTE yet perhaps a viable choice towards the resolution of a long prevalent dilemma !
Notwithstanding the emphasis given to the term 'Fighters' and "liberators of our land" which has to be restructured as a collective term entailing all of Sri Lanka and her people within which framework the Tamils are an integral and essential part, The LTTE oppressive forces of the Tamil National Front who have set their sights on all of Pirapaharan's LTTE (probably now defunct as far as its real leadership is concerened) has issued notice of their presence! The public statement made by the Tamil National Front makes it clear that they are a force against the mainstream LTTE and a statement which needs to be respected and their language heeded by the authorities towards further careful evaluation in the best interests of Sri Lanka.
Quoting the statement under reference"
“Our patriotic fellow fighters, all of you, who have come forward
to liberate our land – tell us, for how long, are you going to allow
yourselves being shot and thrown away into mass graves by Prabhakaran?
He poses as the all- powerful "sole representative of the Tamil-speaking
people" only to make use of them and to turn their lives into ground
manure that could fertilize his lust for power." end quote, which
at long last is a brave and outspoken reference to the reality that the
Sri Lankan Tamils are no longer afraid of being subjugated by the evils
of Velupillai Pirapaharan and his ilk, probably also lending credence
to the theory that he is no more! based on the cognizance that he has
either perished during the Tsunami or rendered ineffective further presenting
his motley band of terrorists as somewhat toothless as far as their tiger
image is concerend despite a baring of fangs prevalent as of late and
the bravado of their opponenets suddenly amplified beyond reasonable measure
towards a single logical conclusion that there must be cause enough for
such a boost in anti Pirapaharan sentiment !
It was no inconceivable myth that “Under Pirapaharan's dictate the
Sri LankanTamils lived in constant fear and apprehension where they were
mere pawns in this hands. They were pushed around by his mood changes
of authoritarian motivations where opponents to his theories and idealogies
were not only systematically eliminated brutally but their families also
faced intimidations of dire consequences if any other entity representing
the Tamil Freedom struggle alternately were suported as endorsement that
the LTTE proper did not fully represent all Sri lankan Tamils! With the
upsurge of opposition from within the rank and file of the Mainstream
LTTE in the shape of the Karuna Faction perhaps the true liberation fighters
of Tamil people have emerged to oppose what many see as Pirapaharn's pogrom
of eliminating his opponents, where theirs is a more moderate means of
negotiation with the powers that be while dedicating themselves to a path
of systematic elimination of the LTTE proper of the Pirapaharan dictate
along which lines the TNF have also formulated their manifesto .
The Pirapaharan interpretations of a Tamil favourable system of politics undoubtedly deserves no recognition as its core hinges around his own existence, the transparencies of which have motivated a new wave of hope for an oppressed Tamil Community through this new set of champions The TNF as the LTTE appear to flounder in a quagmire of their own creation and the death knell appears to have sounded towards their existence while a new emerging force of a more benevolent nature towards Tamil well being and consequently that of Sri Lanka is now very much a reality in the form of The Tamil National Front who has also emphasized in no uncertain terms their 'Tour de Force' which is totally non aligned towards the mendacious and autocratic dispositions of the Pirapaharan led LTTE.
The Tamil National“ Front has further emphasized in their recent
Press release made public that quote " His record (refering to Velupillai
Pirapaharan(Prabhakaran) proves that he has shifted away from the declared
aim of liberating the Tamil people and to guarantee a peaceful future
for the Tamil generations to come. It is now apparent that he is mobilizing
his forces primarily for the sake of ensuring his own safety and for him
and his family to lead a life of luxury. This is his hidden agenda and
he has managed to pursue it successfully until April 2004 when the eastern
wing of the LTTE of Karuna Amman, which has fought shoulder to shoulder
facing the brunt of many of the biggest battles, broke away from the hegemony
of the Vanni hierarchy. After the Ceasefire Agreement Karuna Amman, (February
22, 2002) the liberation fighting cadres from the East were able to discover
the true selfish intentions of Prabakaran and publicly decried Prabakaran
as the traitor of the Tamils. The Eastern Command led by Karuna Amman
refused to bow down to his will and freed those cadres from being obedient
slaves to Prabhakaran's will. Karuna Amman had come to the conclusion
that it was neitherjust nor fair to sacrifice the lives of innocent cadres
either to protect Prabhkaran, his power, or to maintain his luxurious
lifestyle. When Karuna Amman exposed this hidden agenda of the Vanni leader
the inevitable followed: Prabhkaran sent his secret agents to assassinate
Karuna Amman.
Today Prabakaran is paying dearly for his failure to keep the eastern
flank united with the northern flank. It is clear that he has lost his
grip on the east. This has been a heavy blow to Prabakaran's power and
ego. That is why he keeps issuing warnings to Karuna Amman and keeps on
boasting that his outfit has killed five of Karuna Amman’s cadres
here and another six of them in another place. He is now engaged in a
war against innocent civilians believing them to the forces of Karuna
Amman. Killing civilians is not going to kill the TNF. It may be good
for his propaganda but, as the forces rising in the east indicates, he
is daily alienating the people of the East. The more Prabakaran try to
impose his will by force the more he will drive the Tamil people away
from him and his killing machine, the LTTE. The hard reality is that Prabkaran
is no longer strong as he was. It is time for the organizations fighting
for the cause of the Tamil people to comprehend this new reality. The
time is ripe for all these organizations to join hands and unite in the
fight against Prabkaran. Only the Tamil people have the power to tame
and reform the power-hungry Prabakaran. Our appeals to him have fallen
on deaf ears. Now we are left with the real possibility of building an
alternative leadership that can liberate our people.
Liberation is not the sole monopoly of Prabakaran. This is a right given
to the Tamils of the Eelam as a whole. If we are to achieve our rights
we will have to unite and first liberate ourselves from the iron grip
of Prabakaran. Those militant cadres in the disbanded outfits are standing
alone, perplexed and wasting time not knowing the next step forward. Their
plight is tragic.
Therefore, we appeal to our brotherly fighting cadres in the disbanded
outfits, and the Tamil speaking people who live scattered all over the
world, to come forward and join the Tamil National Force to safeguard
our beloved people from the wretched grip of Prabakaran.” end quote.
While there can be no supportive sentiment nor legal aqcuiescence towards the term Eelam within a Sovereign Sri Lankan Nation whose Sinhalese majority as the ruling party governs with authority and the mandate of the people yet with compassion and through the constitutionalised statutes of a Sovereign Nation towards maintaining the rights of all its citizens, any opposition to the mainstream LTTE as presented by the Tamil National Front had to be interpreted as beneficial towards maintaining a rational balance of peace and harmony for all Sri Lankans within her Sovereign Territory which cannot harbour or tolerate internationally proscribed and condemned terrorists!
Perhaps a choice has inadvertently been presented by the TNF to the Administration, in so much of a quandry in recent times relative to the inconsistent posturings of the mainstream LTTE that an objective view needs to be taken towards legitimizing which Tamil representation truly merits recognition on behalf of all moderate peace loving Tamils within Sri Lanka's multicultural mosaic?
A forcible self proclaimed one of terrorist objectives or a genuine Tamil
representation of moderate, law abiding and peace loving means!
