Of their own admission the LTTE are a spent force with nearly 20.000 of their cadre lost in a meaningless war which has also cost the Nation dearly and after the Sept.11th Attacks in the USA the backlash by the Global Community on all terrorist cells has resulted in severe disruptions to their fundraising activities overseas and an analogy must be drawn that the tigers are fast becoming toothless and hence the urgent need to change their image, modus operandi and anti -Sinhala sentiment and clean up their act at least in pretense while some of their hardcore mainstream such as the ungainly Thamilchelvam still rumbles on about the merits of maintaining their objectives towards Eelam out of a sense of their own righteousness and a strong contradiction of the need to bring to justice their ringleader Prabhakaran for his crimes against a Democratic Society which could be multiplied taking into consideration the asassination of the former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the thousands of the Official Indian Peace Keepers also killed by the LTTE.

Bearing in mind that within the six odd months that the Wickremasinghre Administration has been in power, there have been remarkable changes in the Nation in areas of public security, the return to an open economy and the freedom of movement made available to people irrespective of their ethnicity with the removal of many restrictions imposed during the war with the LTTE, either coincidentally or otherwise a degreee of calm seems to have prevailed, lending an air of security to its populace in a very welcome manner which is viewed by the International Community especially Superpowers such as the USA, Britain and China as a very positive accomplishment and resulting in the offers of very generous aid packages towards its continuity and the restoration of areas devastated by the decades long conflict.

Sadly there is every likelihood that what the world sees within Sri Lanka as a return to the normal order could easily be transformed into a mirage of no consequence if the LTTE in being given the degree of tolerance and freedom presently, decide to drive home an advantage which they have been projecting towards for sometime now as the stepping stone to their objectives seems to have presented itself at a very opportune moment.

Incredibly Somewhere within the core of the present Administration,there is also the ongoing saga of subtle patronage, benefit packages in lieu of loyalties towards the faithful who helped ursurp the previous administration and the continuation of a trend which has been identified as idiosyncratic to Sri Lankan Politics and whether it be a ridiculously voluminous cabinet relative to both past and present Administrations, the appointing of various Judiciary Commisions to investigate wrongdoings of the past regime which should more appropriately be re-named 'Revenge Commissions' as the bandwagon continues oblivious to the real needs of the Nation which have thus far hardly been addressed in propriety relative to creating a normalcy conducive to all inhabitants of the land.

The Politicos are still romping overseas on their various "Official Ventures" at the taxpayers expense and certain individuals have even cast their moral obligations towards their Oaths of Office into the trash can! such as the illustrious Tyronne Fernando seeking the Post of Secretary General of the United Nations with few credentials to show for it other than a paid academic entry into a hallowed British Institution Higher Learning, and a proven capability to bungle both verbally and administratively and ere long the eternal quest of the Prime Minister in his search for greater power who undoubtely would seek the Post of President himself may also surface, so why have the obligations of our revered leaders digressed beyond the norms of dedication towards securing Sri Lanka towards an unassailable stability in the New Millenium? Especially in the prevailing calm after the storm where their attentions should be more focussed towards selfless dedication towards their Motherland and its impoverished people without compromise and in austerity?

There is no visibility of the move towards a much needed Plurality to secure the needs of All Sri Lankans by virtue of the projections of the present Administration as the scenario being enacted on the Adminstrative Podium especially its liason with harbingers of terror and destruction only appears to be deepening the rift within the Sinhala Nation in isolating the Majority Sinhalese from their deserved goal towards a stable existence devoid of instability and apprehensions of the enemy within as the Administration is fast becoming incapable of driving home the advantage created by the International Coalition Against Terrorism contradicting its requirements in providing a safe haven for the LTTE with no place to go!.In sheltering them from the Hand Of International Justice which inevitably awaits them it would merely compond the woes of a Nation which has long desired to be rid of them completely. And the LTTE leadership has manouvered remarkably well in seeking avoidance from being apprehended by the powerful International Sources of Justice and Law Enforcement while sheltering in the discrepancies of the UNF Administration.
