Presidential Support Must Stand Firm Towards The Preservation Of The Sinhala Nation. What bravado on the part of some of the minnows in Parliament to make utterances such as "We Have The Two Thirds Majority" when they can only dream of coming close to it as Presidential support has not reached the depths of despair as yet according to sources from within the PA Camp and the general mood of the Nation viewing all that goes on with a great deal of skepticism. The Sri Lankan Government now advertises blatantly that it would go ahead with a constitutional amendment to curb President Chandrika Kumaratunga's power to dissolve Parliament, claiming it could muster a two-thirds majority with the help of opposition MPs but so did the mice who once tried to tie a bell around a proverbial cat with about the same measure of success the UNF will probably have. It appears to be the same wishful thinking that individuals such as 'Prof' G.L Peiris and Tyronne Fernando base their deduction on, the latter mentioned with his spoofish aspirations to chair the United Nations obviously for personal gain rather that the merit he proclaims it will bring to Sri Lanka and it is the very same type of meanderings which leave the more perceptive wondering what their respective missions as Parliamentary Representatives are all about.? And they aren't the only ones taking into consideration the recent activities of the LTTE favouring Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena whose empathy towards the LTTE far exceeds norms and leaves in neglect the suffering masses of poor Sinhala peasants scattered around the Nation much deserving of a fraction of the assistance he is so generously handing out exclusively to whom he terms "the displaced Tamil population" so where's the even and impartial mix which would really supplement his philanthropic aspirations? The likes of mnessers Rauf Hakeem and S.B Dissanayake also deserve honorable mentions in all their latest indiscretions and posturings towards Presidential wing clipping in the furore that appears to be building up when there are far greater priorities within the Nation which need immediate attention. According to the protagonists of Presidential doom they already have within their reach the opposition Members of Parliament who would support their motion to restrict Presidential Authority which appears to be pure conjecture and speculation as regardless of the propaganda being broadcast by the likes of Prof. Peiris there has been a recent build up of strong support for the President within her membership of the PA and supportives within Parliament and more than likely a confirmation of the Sinhala Proverb that "the Moon cannot be brought down by a pack of barking dogs " and indeed there seems to be a lot of barking going on!and probably needs a bit of clamping as the Sinhala Nation is fast growing weary of the likes of the fastidious cabinet members especially Peiris who has been a walking contradiction considering in retrospect a simiral brand of tactics in his previous minsterial capacity that is beginning to sound all too familiar and one only needs to refer back to his past track record together with the rest of the motley band turncoats of the former PA Administration who shamelessly betrayed Presidential trust and are now screaming for her wings to be clipped in probably thinking of their own future rather than that of the Nation. Perhaps it may not be a bad idea to muffle the barking dogs rather the clip the Presidents wings as International derision and ridicule also appear to be the order of the day about the comedy of errors the UNF is turning out to be. President (Mm.) Chandrika Kumaratunga has correctly rejected piecemeal changes to the Constitution. on the grounds that it is an unprecedented violation of Democracy and a contradiction of their own (UNP) Principles set in place by their own founding fathers which todays UNF Regime appear to be about to make a mockery of ! regardless of the ignominious Peiris argument that the proposed amendment was not a piecemeal or ad hoc measure in a rather feeble attempt to justify his proposals and continues with the nerve of an impudent schoolboy to say that it is an urgent necessity. A necessity for his own blurred myopic double vision? It must be publicised in the loudest terms that the Government cannot
achieve a two-thirds majority needed for the amendment without the votes
of a large number of Opposition MPs crossing over to vote with the Government
and at this stage a pipe dream for Prof. Peiris and his cronies in their
unending cacophony directed at the so called viles of the President as
the resolve of her supporters would surely be fortified and united to
stand by her in loyalty to the Nation which is on the brink of being betrayed
to a dastardly entity known as the LTTE who are beginning to perfect their
theatrics as time goes by and if a platform was to be provided for Presidential
restrictions it would surely mark the beginning of the end for the Sinhala
Nation.
