Recent Discoveries of Terrorist Weapons In Colombo Are Indicative Of LTTE Subterfuge Despite Their Rhetoric! The LTTE hierarchy just a week ago made somewhat bombastic and obstreperous sounding statements about a bloodbath in Sri Lanka and suddenly there are reports that they have 'lambasted 'the Sri Lankan Government which has released an alarming report of the findings of suicide jackets and claymore bombs found in Colombo as none but an evil design by the Government to implicate them. That the lambasting is more deserving of the LTTE becomes an accepted norm when it is their manipulative and mendacious actions that need to be questioned in an issue relative to the Sovereignity and Territorial Integrity of a Democratic Nation and the Sri Lankan Government has now been posed with a serious challenge to assert and secure all aspects of National Defence since the LTTE have committed a cardinal error taking into consideration their latest impure threats towards a possible " blood bath" which was splashed all over the media both nationally and Internationally. There can be no shrugging away as being irrelevent the implications of the recent discovery of the afore mentioned paraphanelia at Grand Pass , Colombo, and simultaneous other findings of similar terrorist material as it creates a grim forebording of fear and apprehension of a particular magnitude of horror that Sri Lanka has encountered in the not too distant past where the question needs to be asked "can there be risks taken in neglecting the possibility of a recurrence of what was abominable wretched and devastating to the point of being crimes against humanity of devastation, and mayhem within a Democratic Nation where many innocents suffered the wrath of terrorism?" That it has become a conceivable reality about the LTTE being granted too many concessions by the Ranil Wickremasinghe Administration seems cut and dried while now being made manifest by the high handed attitude of the LTTE who even at this juncture of their botched attempts to virtualy bring the Nation to its knees continue to play to the International Stage a scenario of veiled subterfuge with a changed image(of pretence) while uttering threats to the Nation expecting them to go unheeded when armamants and material indicative of a planned attack have been discovered and the overall response is one of feigned innocence!! blaming it on the Government. While the LTTE have absolutely no ground to stand on given their track record of being a deadly terrorist group, the credibilities of the Government in whatever action it takes towards the best interests of the Nation have to be accepted where the benefit of the doubt in any matter related to National Security has to be given to the Sri Lankan Government where the LTTE have laid themselves bare to way too much suspicion based on tough talk despite its idle propaganda flavour and must face the consequences. Despite being of a conjecturial nature, once the stone of doubt was cast through their ditherings borne of frustrations towards stoic Administrative Policy directed at securing the unitarity of Sri Lanka the Government has every right to be wary by way of unmitigated apprehension, of the theory that The LTTE could very well be poised for another hook or by crook attempt translating to a snap insurgency towards shaking the Sri Lankan Establishment into accepting and recognizing their ISGA unconditionally and perhaps what the current tone of voice of the LTTE is all about. A No No! by any definition if the LTTE realistically believe in remaining an acceptable entity in the eyes of the world yet given their unpredictable and dubious nature exposing a darker side to their modus operandi which sometimes has surfaced in a more than obvious perspective. The failure by previous administrations and their security forces to corral them and read them their rights seems to be a visible fallout of neglect and a Faux Pas which has given rise to many LTTE misconceptions in manipulating and twisting Administrative Neglect to their advantage which has not only let them off the hook for their criminality but has also projected them further in their quest towards their objectives with an air of disentitled legality and thanks particularly to the previous Ranil Wickremasinghe Administration and the rhetoric of his chief advisor the dubious Professor G.L.Peiris whose plaudits of the LTTE rang hollow towards a zenith of insignificance while belittling their chief antagonist the ubiquitous Mr.Lakshman Kadirgamar whose tireless efforts at least contributed to their international proscription as the exception, they have even been provided with platforms from which to operate with the co-operation of the so called Peace Monitors from Norway ever in the role of supportive facilitator not towards peace but towards the promotion of LTTE direction! There can be no misconceived conclusions therefore about any secure premonitions of grace for Sri Lanka in this recently presented scenario of great uncertainty as the LTTE have always been and will continue to be an imminent threat to National Security without being desisting from augmenting their resources and cadre which thus far has not been apparent even in some small measure As long as their defiance and belligerence continues in the same vein as they have always presented themselves, the nature of the Peace which has lasted thus far will always continue to be circumspect and the Sri Lankan Administration will be obliged to consider the fortification of the Nation's defence and security against an insurgent threat, mandatory and unconditional! Ironically the LTTE threat despite their rhetoric towards peace comes from a marginal percentage of a nation's population whose majority deserves protection from insurgency and the threat towards a loss of freedom which the LTTE continue to pose not only verbally but lately through caches of hidden weapons and indications of regrouping their terrorist pockets which must be addressed and responded to perforce without delay. |
