India's
Reluctance To Participate In Oslo An Eye Opener To The Realities Involved.
That India will not be coerced into a catch 22 situation by the Sri Lankan Government regarding the next round of Peace Talks in Norway has fast become obvious and a point to ponder upon.It is indeed a clear message that there will be nothing more than a lukewarm response from the Indian Administration which no longer condones the LTTE and its leadership. India has officially stated that it will not involve itself at this stage in the Peace Process and the rationale behind it should send out a caution to the USA and the United Kingdom amongst others not to be too enthusiastic in jumping to quick conclusion about its attributes nor making hasty decisions about the LTTE who have yet to come clean about their intentions and projections towards a terrorism free Sri Lanka or their ambitions about Eelam, not officially signed and delivered although the Government of Sri Lanka continues to detract from the importance of parleying towards the core issues of the Nation which it has all but bypassed in dancing to the LTTE Nagasalam! In short the Indian Government has delivered a veiled snub to Ranil Wickremasinghe's overtures to attend the conference in Oslo which may be the beginning of a hesitancy for any real international support in view of the many loopholes showing, especially the presently continued LTTE agitation in the North and North East and the relentless pursuit of asserting their authority not in keeping with a now contrite organization as presented in pretence whose benevolence towards Sri Lanka as a whole is not entirely sincere. It is appears to be in the best interests of the predominantly Sinhala Nation that the no nonsense stand taken by the Indian Authorities has been projected at a time when all does not seem to be kosher towards a lasting peace both by the Administration as well as the LTTE with serious divisions of thought arising from both the Sinhala and Tamil communities about accepting the parameters of the Peace Process which has also sidelined the Muslim and other minority communities within the land. It must serve as an example to the rest of the bandwagon adulating the insidious moves of the two parties involved in what has become visible as a jockeying for their own survival rather than that of the Nation and the vision of India stands out.Hence the Sri Lankan emissary and Cabinet Minister Milinda Moragoda has returned with a negative response to his invitation on behalf of the Sri Lankan Government an attempt to which India has responded by agreeing to sending a mere diplomatic observer, a gesture intended to placate rather than accede. Unlike its condescending neighbour India has judiciously stood by the principles of integrity in showing disagreement towards being on the same podium as the outlawed LTTE in a forum bearing International Status as it would be alongside a group which they considered being an adversary during the Rajiv Gandhi Administration and still continues the quest for the incarceration of its leadership and has exposed the transparencies of the Sri Lankan Government which has all but compromised the core issues of the Nation relative to the security its people in sheer speculation. What India perceives as a dangerous manouver namely the Peace Process in its present design and its long term effects has a very simple rationale which can be attributed to the simplest of equations. When did the releasing of rabid hounds ever benefit the environment as in the most elementary terms they needed to be put down.Their community could be better represented by non- belligerent, sincere peace loving people who have a just claim to the title of whom there certainly are many with the exclusion of the nefarious LTTE leadership and cronies who are being bartered with in this instance much to the chagrin of the sensibilities of India and the rest of the opposition to the compromises which the Peace Process entails. India's reluctance to participate officially in the next leg of the Peace process in Oslo is an eye opener to the realities involved.
