Election Violence Needs Remedial Measures To Ease Voter Insecurities and Impartial Governance. The Election Campaign has taken on a composure of unrest and turbulence as the big day draws nearer and the incredible patterns of slander, fabrications and physical violence has not abated and continues to mar the overall atmosphere that needs to be tranquil and respectful towards the significance of the event and the affordability of sanity and security to the voters venturing out to cast their ballot towards allaying their fears and insecurities.Presently the decorum and dignity of a Unitary State conducting a Democratic Election is being severely tested by an unscrupulous bunch of 'Electionbusters' in a vain attempt to coerce victory through undemocratic means. . Certain leaders and candidates even seem to falsely believe that the more confusion and distractions created, the better it would be for their chances of victory but this belief is a laconic misconception bound to nosedive taking them ino oblivion much to their chagrin and detriment as the discontent, disgust and apprehensions on the part of the discerning voter is beginning to show and the 10th of December Result could have a few shocks for individuals believing themselves to be in the driving seat for victory. . A pathetic state of affairs in a once tranquil land which seems to have been engulfed in a cheap mantle of contradictions of the aphorisms once laid down by the erudite Founding Fathers of the Democratic Electoral Process in Post British Sri Lanka and unless due respect is paid to the importance of maintaining the continuity of the ground rules for a fair, impartial and non violent Election Campaign leading upto a civilly conducted Election, the entire Electoral Process could end up being thrown into jeopardy and analogous to those of the lawless regions of the world once ruled by iron fisted Dictators where Democracy oftentimes took a back seat. . Whoever resorts to intimidation and thuggery needs to be brought to Justice regardless of whichever party they represent and needless to say the fires of intimidation are undoubtedly being fanned by the terrorist element combined with their spurious champions egging them on!with a trace of officialdome within their rank and file and significantly, to echo the judicious words of the former Leader of the Opposition "Those guilty of treason must be brought to Justice" with particular reference to a former Minister accused of involvement with the LTTE in covert actions suggesting conspiratorial undertones of espionage and a blatant attempt to partially deliver the Nation into the hands of its oppressors seeking secession where the evidence in support of the accusations is taking on a nature of alarming plausibility. . Though it is seems to be a fact of life that apathetic Electoral Violence
in Sri Lanka has been tolerated for sometime now, there is no denying
the need for a drastic deterrent to a continuously endemic malady which
seems to be regional and afflicting all of South Asia. It is also an indication
of the lawless climate that prevails in the areas of projected violence
needing stringent remedial measures and the Administration conducting
the present Election needs no mandate to rectify the ills that have pervaded
a once tranquil land and in taking a righteous stand in maintaining control
together with its allies and International Support should unquestionably
assert their right towards securing another term of Government and impartial
Governance.
