The priorities of the Nation
The priorities of the Nation have to be set in place to appease the voters
of the heartland who will carry the Victors into Parliament and they cannot
be power hungry, selfishly motivated seekers of personal acclaim. Already
accusations are being levelled at both leading parties the UNP and the
PA that they indeed are all of this projecting a more arduous road to
success for either of them where the minds of the people exercising Universal
Franchise need to be convinced beyond a doubt which party will be mandated
into Parliament as the Ruling Party by virtue of their credentials.
While the UNP has chosen a path of conglomerating pro business strategies
welcoming a positive response from the Private Sector and liberalising
an open market concept intended to attract foreign investment, the man
on the street at grass roots level may not necessarily interpret them
as being beneficial to the Nation in a wider sense of equality to all
citizens. Furthermore the defections of former PA Ministers most of whom
cannot boast of unblemished track record in as far as their materialistic
motivations were concerned. Their joining of hands with the UNP appears
to be a dive towards a security blanket protecting them from fradulent
transactions and being brough to justice which in reality has not done
the credibility of the UNP much good as their intentions to bring down
the Government has also been motivated by a visible greed for power at
a time when the Alliance between the PA and the JVP seemed poised to take
off on a positive note towards the restoration of the Nation in areas
of primary importance such as the Economy and the terrorist problem.
The JVP on the contrary have steadfastly strengthened their claim to be
the true liberators of Sri Lanka's masses and the heartland voters have
embraced them as a heaven sent entity whose love of the Nation is unquestionable
and being Marxist certainly no sin combined with a cast iron discipline
towards priorities such as unnecessary privatisation, incentives for job
market expansion for the impoverished, the streamlining of the Administrative
Infrastructure and unshakably convinced that there will be no dealings
with terrorists logically conceived in conjunction with the World Alliance
Against Terrorism when bothe the UNP and the PA still maintain a rather
weak kneed stand of hesitancy in favour of negotiations rather than elimination
through Military Strikes.
The Nation is also looking towards the Politicians' safety and well being
while on the rigorous campaign trail as their vulnerabilities should be
of prime concern to the Law Enforcement Authorities who must never forget
who the real enemies of the State are, those terror groups who lie in
wait in the dark recesses of their own misery for an opportunity to explode
into terror and destruction making unsuspecting targets out of innocents.
The Politicians who recognize who the real enemies of the State are, with
no attempts to appease them nor collaborate with them for personal gain
and have no compunctions in recognizing them are already on the way to
victory to a structured environment which will never again see the horrors
of protracted terror and should be given the blanket of security and support
at the ballot box which would assert their protection as theirs would
be the destiny to hold the Nation together.
